Since the beginning of the use of spring mattresses, new technologies have emerged and diversity has increased. These studies, which were initially carried out with only the “feeling of comfort” in the foreground, later gave different meanings and tasks to mattress varieties.
The spring types that emerged from different needs were primarily determinants for the firmness of the mattress. However, over time and especially as computer-aided design methods emerged, expectations and varieties began to increase.
Today, many patented and unpatented spring systems are used in mattresses. However, recently, hybrid systems, that is, structures in which different spring technologies are used together, have also come to the fore. In addition, developments in spring technologies are becoming more and more important in terms of maintaining the flexibility of springs or their integration with other parts.
